(2003 NPC cards will be available for $60.) Junior Fitness competitors must not have exceeded 20 years of age the day of the contest. Age Group Figure competitors must have reached the age of 35 the day of the contest. Fitness Model Search competitors must be at least 18 years of age. Proof of age required. Novice Figure competitors are eligible only if they have never placed 1st-3rd in an open class or 1st place Novice Division in any NPC sanctioned Figure competition. Contestants may enter more than one division. AWARDS: Women's Open Fitness, Women's Open Figure and Women's Novice Figure: 1s -5th in each height class. Men's Fitness: 1st-5th one class Junior Fitness 1st-5th in each age group, Women's Figure Age Group Over 35: 1st -5th one class A Team Trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring team. RULES: This contest is NPC sanctioned and will run in accordance with the most recent NPC rules and procedures. All decisions are final. MUSIC: Fitness Contestants will use their own music for the finals, prerecorded on a quality cassette tape or CD and CUED TO YOUR STARTING POINT. BRING TAPE or CD TO SATURDAY, AUG. 30TH 8:00 A.M. MEETING! Time Limit: 2 MIN. BACKSTAGE: Due to limited backstage area and competitor safety, only one trainer per competitor will be allowed backstage. Backstage Trainer's Passes granted with proof of purchase of morning and evening show tickets only. MUSIC, BACKSTAGE, SCHEDULE, ENTRY FEE: same as above. JUDGING PROCEDURES ROUND 1/ PHYSIQUE: Contestants are to be barefoot and wear either runner or biker shorts, [no posing suits]. All contestants will be brought out in a line-up and asked to execute four quarter turns to the right. The judges will be assessing overall symmetry, proportion, firmness and physical appearance including complexion, skin tone, poise and presentation, that best shows an athletic physique. ROUND 2/ FITNESS ROUTINE: Each contestant will perform a Fitness Routine to music they select for a maximum of 2 minutes. Routines may include strength moves, (i.e. push-ups, situps, jumping jacks, high kicks, etc.), aerobics, martial arts, gymnastics, dance or oither demonstrations of athletic talent. There are no required movements. (You do not have to be a gymnast to do well in this round.) The judges will be looking for strength, flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, style, personality, coordination and overall performance. The judges will be looking for a well rounded routine, not just one focused on one aspect of fitness. Due to the danger of slippage, no body oil is allowed. The contestants should give special attendtion to their fitness outfit, as it will be judged as well. Athletic shoes are required during this round. Props are allowed, but contestant must be able to carry them on and off the stage. See more details on the rules for Men's Fitness at IFBB.com, under the Amateur Rules section. WOMEN'S FITNESS & FIGURE CONTEST DETAILS * Contestants must wear high heels in the swimsuit rounds and tennis/athletic shoes in the fitness round. Jewelry may be worn in the swimsuit rounds. * Thong swimsuits will not be allowed. Tights must be worn under thong in fitness round. * Exhibition of poor sportsmanship will be grounds for automatic disqualification. * Fitness contestants must be able to carry their own props to and from the stage. PUBLICITY AND AWARDS: The top 2 winners in each of the three, (3), height classes for FITNESS, ( 5'3" and under, over 5'3" - 5'5", over 5'5"), and the top 2 winners in each of the four height classses for OPEN FIGURE , (5'2" and under, over 5'2" - 5'-3", over 5'3" - 5'5" and over 5'5"), will be nationally qualified, and the top 5 in each class will receive Neils AndersonFitness/Figure Sculptures. NOTE: Three, (3), height classes in FIGURE NOVICE are the same as the three for FITNESS, and the top 5 will receive Neils Anderson Figure Sculptures. Novice Figure competitors are eligible only if they have never placed 1st-3rd in an open class or 1 st place Novice Division in any NPC sanctioned Figure competition. No money prizes may be given at the amateur level. All of the national events will be featured on FOX Sports. The top 6 FITNESS contestants, ( 2 in each of the 3 height classes), at the USA and Nationals and the class winners at the Team Universe will be eligible to turn professional in the IFBB. JUDGING PROCEDURES: ROUND 1/SWIMSUIT The contestants will be brought out in 1 or 2 lines for the quarter turns. (Do not twist-look straight ahead.)The judges will be scoring the physique by assessing overall muscle tone with shapely lines, overall firmness and a small degree of muscularity with separation, no visible striations and no excessive leanness along with a full general assessment including healthy appearance, face, makeup and skin tone. ROUND 2/ FITNESS Each athlete will perform a maximum 2 minute routine. Judges will be looking for strength and flexibility moves, style, personality and overall presentation and showmanship. Strength and flexibility moves will be judged on the number, degree of difficulty and the creativity in performing the moves. Contestants should give special attention to their apparel since it too will be judged. Routines may include aerobics, dance, gymnastics or other demonstrations of athletic talent and strength--there are no required moves except at the national events, but are strongly recommended. Props are allowed but must be approved by promoter in advance. ROUND 3/FINAL ASSESSMENT The athlete will be brought back out in their original line in a 1-PIECE SWIMSUIT. At this time judges may ask for certain contestants to be placed next to other contestants. Quarter turns will be directed so the judges can make any final comparisons if they wish. SCORING Each round is judged separately, and scores are turned in after each round. EVENING PERFORMANCE All contestants will be introduced at the evening event in their swimsuits. All athletes will perform their fitness routine at the evening finals. *NOTE: JUNIOR FITNESS CHAMPIONSHIPS--Rules are the same as Women's Fitness minus "ROUNDS 1 AND 3/ SWIMSUIT." WOMEN'S FIGURE CHAMPIONSHIPS--Rules are the same as Women's Fitness minus "ROUND 2/ FITNESS." MEN'S AND WOMEN'S FITNESS MODEL SEARCH DETAILS AWARDS: Top male and female winners will be awarded an exclusive photo shoot with top industry photographer Terry Goodlad on Sunday, the day after the contest, and will be featurd on Bodysport.com, the world's leading fitness, figure and bodybuilding website. ENTRY FEE: $40 JUDGING PROCEDURES: • Contestants will be introduced in swimwear of their choice [NO THONGS!] performing standard model turns. • Men must be barefoot. • Women must wear heels. • The contestants will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges. • The judges will be looking for the male and female that best portrays the look of health, fitness, beauty, sex-appeal and poise.
