ROCKY MOUNTAIN BODYBUILDING CONTEST DETAILS:

DATE: November 1, 2003          TIME: Prejudging  10:00 am, Finals 6:00 pm

PLACE: BUELL Theater, Denver Center for Performing Arts, Curtis and 14th, Denver, CO

ELIGIBILITY: Open to any NPC athlete.  (2003 NPC cards will be available for $60.) Teenage competitors must not  have exceeded 19 years of age the day of the contest. Masters competitors  must have reached the age of 35 ,40 or 45 the day of the contest. Proof of age required.  Novice competitors are eligible only if they have never placed 1st-3rd in an open class  or 1st place Novice Division in any NPC sanctioned event.   Wheelchair division athletes must be prepared to provide a letter from their doctor describing level of physical disablity.   Contestants  may enter more than one division, however, athletes will only pose once  at the evening competition.

AWARDS: Men's/Women's Open: 1st-5th  in each weight class. Teenage, Wheelchair Division, Women's Masters, MEN'S Masters 35-40, 40-45, 45+: 1st-5th one class  each. Novice 1st-3rd in each weight class. (Novice class must have a minimum  of3 entrants prior to October 15th or entrants will be moved to next appropriate  class.)  Mixed Pairs 1st - 3rd one class.  (Mixed Pairs must have 2 Pairs by Oct. 15th or class cancelled.)  A Team Trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring team. ($20  fee per team is required.)

RULES: This contest is NPC sanctioned  and will run in accordance with the most recent NPC rules and procedures. As always, it is a requirement that all competitors weigh-in in a posing suit.   All decisions are final. MUSIC: Contestants will use their own music for  the finals, prerecorded on a quality cassette tape and CUED TO YOUR STARTING  POINT. BRING TAPE TO CHECK-IN! Time Limit: 60 sec. TO PREPARE COMPETITORS FOR NATIONAL LEVEL COMPETITION, NO TRAINERS WILL BE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE---HELP WILL BE PROVIDED.

SCHEDULE:   Check-in/ Weigh-in will be  6-8 P.M. FRIDAY AT THE HOST HOTEL (THE RED LION HOTEL BY MILE HIGH STADIUM/INVESCO FIELD ON I-25, exit #210-B) Saturday morning PreJudging meeting at the Denver Auditorium Theater at 8:00 am and prejudging begins Saturday  at 10 :00am.   NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO SATURDAY MORNING WEIGH-IN / CHECK-IN.   Saturday Evening check-in will be  at 5:00 pm, and the evening presentation begins at 6pm

2003 NPC CAROL SEMPLE WOMEN'S FITNESS CLASSIC

GENERAL CONTEST INFORMATION

  • Each contestant must be a current member of the NPC,  (2003 NPC cards will be available for $60)
  • Entry Fee: $50 if postmarked by Oct. 15, 2003. $60 for entries postmarked after Oct. 15, 2003.   Complete the entry form on this page.
  • Contestants must wear high heels in the swimsuit rounds and tennis/athletic shoes in the fitness round. Jewelry may be worn in the swimsuit rounds.
  • Thong swimsuits will not be allowed. Tights must be worn under thong in fitness round.
  • Exhibition of poor sportsmanship will be grounds for automatic disqualification.
  • Due to limited backstage area and for the competitors safety, NO assistant or trainer will be permitted backstage.
  • Contestants must be able to carry their own props to and from the stage.
  • Contestant check-in:  FRIDAY, 6-8 p.m. at the Host Hotel, Prejudging meeting Saturday at 8:00 am at the Denver Auditorium Theater, Prejudging begins SATURDAY at  10:00am.

PUBLICITY AND AWARDS: The top 5 winners in each  height class( 5'3" and under, over 53" - 5'5" ,over 5'5") will  be nationally qualified, and will receive Neils Anderson Fitness Sculptures.  No money prizes may be given at the amateur level. Many of the Regional  events will be featured on FOX Sports. The top 6 contestants, (2 in eachof the 3 height classes), at the USA and Nationals and class winners at theTeam Universe will be eligible to turn professional  in the IFBB. The winner of Nationals will be invited to compete at the  Fitness Ms. OlympiaContest.

JUDGING PROCEDURES:

ROUND 1/SWIMSUIT

The contestants will be brought out in 1 or 2 lines  for the quarter turns. (Do not twist-look straight ahead.) The judges will  be scoring the physique by assessing overall muscle tone with shapely lines, overall  firmness and a small degree of muscularity with separation, no visible striations and  no excessive leanness along with a full general assessment including healthy appearance,  face, makeup and skin tone. 

ROUND 2/ FITNESS

Each athlete will perform a maximum 2 minute routine.  There are 6 mandatory movements in the pro-qualifiers, (USA,TeamU,Nat'ls.),  but not required in this show: One Arm Pushup, Straddle Hold, Leg Extension  Hold, Full Split-Front, Full Split-Side, and High Kick. (Please refer  to photos in website www.jefftaylor.com   ) Judges will be looking for strength and flexibility moves, style, personality and overall presentation and showmanship.  Strength andflexibility moves will be judged on the number, degree of difficulty andthe creativity in performing the moves.   Contestants should give specialattention to their  apparel since it too will be judged. Routines mayinclude aerobics, dance  gymnastics or other demonstrations of athletictalent and strength. Props  are allowed but must be approved by promoterin advance.

ROUND 3/FINAL ASSESSMENT

The Athlete will be brought back out in their original line in a 1-PIECE SWIMSUIT. At this time judges may ask for certain contestants to be placed next to other contestants. Then the quarter turns will be directed so the judges can make any final comparisons they wish.

SCORING

Each round is judged separately, and scores are turned in after each round.

EVENING PERFORMANCE

All contestants will be introduced at the evening event in their swimsuits. All athletes will perform their fitness routineat the evening finals.

2003 NPC CAROL SEMPLE WOMEN'S FIGURE CLASSIC

GENERAL CONTEST INFORMATION:
Same as Women's Fitness BUT 4 HEIGHT CLASSES, (
under 5'2", 5'2" - 5'3", 5'3" - 5'5" ,over 5'5"),  minus "ROUND 2/FITNESS." 3 Classes of Novice FIGURE competitors, (Same as Fitness above), are eligible only if they have never placed 1st-3rd in an Open Figure class  or 1st place Novice FIGURE class in any NPC sanctioned event.  (Novice winners do not compete for the overall title.)
