ELIGIBILITY: Open to any NPC athlete. (2010 NPC cards will be available for $90.) Teenage competitors must not have exceeded 19 years of age the day of the contest. Masters competitors must have reached the age of 35/40/45 the day of the contest. (Women's Masters BB 35.) Proof of age required. Novice competitors are eligible only if they have never placed 1st-3rd in an open class or 1st place Novice Division in any NPC sanctioned event.  Contestants may enter more than one division, however, contestants will only pose once at the evening competition.  

AWARDS:  Men's/Women's Open: 1st-5th in each weight class.  Teenage and Masters: 1st-5th one class each. Novice, Drug Free for Life 1st-3rd in each weight class. (Novice class must have a minimum of 3 entrants prior to Oct. 1st, or number of classes may be reduced.) A Team Trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring team. ($25 fee per team is required.) Overall Men's and Women's OPEN and Drug Free For Life Champions receive Overall Award.

TESTING PROCEDURE: As a condition of acceptance into this event, contestants must pass a thorough polygraph examination proving that he/she has not engaged in the use of anabolic steroids, clenbuterol or synthol at any time during the preceding 36 calendar months or for competitors entire life if entered in the Drug Free for Life Class. (The previous 6 months is the time frame for non-over-the counter diuretics), No exceptions. (No notes from doctors accepted for medical conditions where banned substances are prescribed.)  Upon receipt of entry form and fee, the contestant will be notified where to go for polygraph testing. The testing center will attempt to accommodate each contestant's schedule. There will not be any additional charge to the contestant for the test.

RULES : This contest is NPC sanctioned and will run in accordance with the most recent NPC rules and procedures. All decisions are final. All bodybuilding competitors must weigh-in wearing posing suit.

MUSIC: Contestants will use their own music WITH NO VULGARITY for the finals, prerecorded on a quality CD--ONLY CD-R TYPE OF CD, WITH A 60 SEC. POSING SONG CUSTOM BURNED ALLOWED and CUED TO YOUR STARTING POINT.  BRING CD TO SATURDAY CHECK-IN, (not Friday). Time Limit: 60 sec.
NOTE: Do not record CD on a CD-RW as it will likely not play any music for your routine.

SCHEDULE FOR BODYBUILDERS- NEW! : Check-in/ Weigh-in will be at 7:00-8:00 pm FRIDAY, Oct. 22 at the Host Hotel--Holiday Inn/Lakewood,(Hampden & Wadsworth), and BODYBUILDING PREJUDGING MEETING AT 8PM at Host Hotel.
SATURDAY MEETING to get #'s, tapes/cds at the Venue at 10:00 a.m., and prejudging begins at 11:00 am (after Figure) at Venue for all BODYBUILDERS. Evening check-in will be at 5:00 pm, and the evening presentation begins at 6pm

BACKSTAGE PASSESNEW Due to limited backstage area at the Colorado Heights University Theater, and for the competitors safety, only a limited number of assistants/ trainers will be permitted backstage.  They may purchase  a Backstage Trainer Pass for $75.  The $75 Backstage Trainer Pass includes a Prejudging ticket, but Evening Finals ticket must be purchased separately. Only 1 Trainer per competitor. (Competitors do not need a ticket)  Assistance will be also be provided.

ENTRY FEES- NEW! : Bodybuilding Entries postmarked prior to Fri.,Oct.1, $95 for the first class entered, $50 for each additional class. Entries postmarked after Oct. 1, $135 for the first class entered, $50 for each additional class. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER OCT. 18th. NO REFUNDS. NO EXCEPTIONS. GENERAL CONTEST INFORMATION

  • Each contestant must be a current memberof the NPC, (2010 NPC cards will be available for $90)
  • Entry Fee: $65 per class if postmarked by October 1st, 2010. $115 per class for entries postmarked after October 1st, 2010. (Complete the entry form BELOW.)
  • Contestants must wear high heels in the swimsuit rounds and tennis/athletic shoes in the fitness round. Jewelry may be worn in the swimsuit rounds.
  • Thong swimsuits will not be allowed. MUST BRING SUITS TO FRIDAY CHECK-IN. BIKINI COMPETITORS MUST WEAR BIKINI SUITS to Check In.
  • Exhibition of poor sportsmanship will be grounds for automatic disqualification.

FITNESS---The top 5 winners in one class of FITNESS,

OPEN FIGURE---The top 5 winners in each of the four height classses for OPEN FIGURE,
(5'2" and under, over 5'2" - 5'4", over 5'4" - 5'6", and over 5'6"),

NOVICE FIGURE*---The top 5 winners in each of the three height classes for NOVICE FIGURE, (5'4" and under, over 5'4" - 5'6", and over 5'6"),

BIKINI*---The top 5 winners in each of the three height classes for BIKINI,
(5'4" and under, over 5'4" - 5'6", and over 5'6"),

will be nationally qualified to go to the Jr.USA & Team Universe Figure, and top 5 in each class will receive Neils AndersonFitness/Figure Sculptures.
    *All BIKINI competitors in this show are nationally qualified for 2009, and are
    eligible to compete for 22 IFBB pro cards awarded in 2009 at the pro qualifier             NPC national contests!


The top 3 in both Open Figure and Fitness are nationally qualified to go to NPC
Jr.Nationals, NPC Figure/Fitness Nationals in NY, NY and NPC USA.  No money prizes may be given at the amateur level.(Competing for cash prizes nullifies amateur status in the NPC.) The top 6 FITNESS contestants, ( 2 in each of the 3 height classes),  at the NPC Nationals in Nov., and the classwinners at the Team Universe will be eligible to turn professional in the IFBB. The winner of Nationals will be invited to compete at the FitnessMs. Olympia Contest. FIGURE:  Jr.USA overall winners, Class winners at the Jr.Nationals and top 2 in each of the four height classes at the National FIGURE Championships, (in NY along with the NPC TEAM UNIVERSE), and class winners at the USA in Las Vegas, all receive their IFBB pro cards
JUDGING PROCEDURES:

ROUND 1/SWIMSUIT
The contestants will be brought outin 1 or 2 lines for the quarter turns in a 2-PIECE SWIMSUIT. (Do not twist-look straight ahead.)The judges will be scoring the physique by assessing overall muscle tonewith shapely lines, overall firmness and a small degree of muscularitywith separation, no visible striations and no excessive leanness along with a full general assessment including healthy appearance, face, makeup and skin tone.


ROUND 2/ FITNESS (Fitness competitors only)

Each athlete will perform a maximum 2 minute routine. Judges will be looking for strength and flexibility moves, style, personality and overall presentation and showmanship. Strengthand flexibility moves will be judged on the number, degree of difficulty and the creativity in performing the moves. Contestants should give special attentionto their apparel since it too will be judged. Routines may include aerobics,dance gymnastics or other demonstrations of athletic talent and strength--there are no required moves except at the national events, but are strongly recommended. Props are allowed but must be approved by promoter in advance.


SCORING
Each round is judged separately, andscores are turned in after each round.

EVENING PERFORMANCE

All contestants will be introducedat the evening event in their swimsuits. All athletes will perform theirfitness routine at the evening finals.

*NOTE:  2010 COLORADO OPEN FIGURE  CHAMPIONSHIPS ----Rules are the same as Women's Fitness minus "ROUND 2/FITNESS." 

*SPECIFIC INFORMATION ABOUT NEW BIKINI DIVISION:

  • NO crossover into Bodybuilding, Fitness or Figure.
  • Competitors will compete in a two-piece suit like Figure and Fitness. The bottom of the suit must be v-shaped. No thongs are permitted. Competitors can compete in an off-the-rack suit. All swimsuits must be in good taste. Swimsuit will be inspected at Athlete Check-In. All contestants must bring all suits to be worn in competition to the Contestant Check-In for suit inspection by a show official. NEW: BIKINI compeititors must check in WEARING BIKINI SUIT to be in compliance with the rule, "The bottom should be in good taste covering about 50% of the gluteal area."   If Bikini athlete has any questions they should bring a second suit with a more modest bottom.
  • Competitors must wear high heels.
  • Competitors may wear jewelry.
BIKINI JUDGING PROCEDURES:

Presentation

  • Competitors will walk onstage alone and perform their Model Walk (personal preference)
    • The Model Walk consists of the following:                                           Walk to the center of the stage, stop and do a front stance then a full turn and do a rear stance then turn to the front again in front of the judges and then proceed to the side of the stage.

Comparison Round, Two-Piece Swimsuit

  • Competitors will be judged wearing a two-piece swimsuit and heels.
  • The competitors will be brought out in a group and directed to do a full front and rear stance.
  • Judges will have the opportunity to compare competitors against each other in half turns. (No side judging permitted, front and back only.)
  • Judges will be scoring competitors on the following items:
    • Balance and Shape
    • Overall physical appearance including complexion, skin tone, poise and overall presentation.
