ELIGIBILITY:
Open to any NPC athlete. (2003 NPC cards will be available for $60.) Teenagecompetitors must not have exceeded 19 years of age the day of the contest.Masters competitors must have reached he age of 35/40/45 the day of the contest.Proof of age required. Novice competitors are eligible only if they have never placed 1st-3rd in an open class or 1 st place Novice Division in any NPC sanctioned national qualifier event. New First Time Novice Division competitors are only eligible IF THEY HAVE NEVER COMPETED BEFORE.  Contestants may enter more than one division, however, athletes will only pose once at the eveningcompetition.  To be eligible to compete in the New Mexico State division, you MUST provide proof of residency for a least 4 months prior to the contest.


AWARDS:

Men's/Women's Open: 1st-5th in each weight class. Teenage, First Time Novice, Masters, Men's Masters 35-40, 40-45, 45 and over, Mixed Pairs: 1st -5th one class each. (Novice class must have a minimum of 6 entrants prior to July 1st or number of classes reduced).  A Team Trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring team. ($20 fee per team is required.) Overall Men's and Women's Mid-USA Bodybuilding and Fitness Champions receive 11th CENTURY REPLICA SWORDS and New Mexico State Overall Men's and Women's winners receive an Overall  Award

RULES: This contest is NPC sanctioned and will run in accordance with the most recent NPC rules and procedures. All decisions are final.  All bodybuilding competitors to be weighed-in in their posing suits.

MUSIC: Contestants will use theirown music for the finals, prerecorded on a quality cassette tape and CUEDTO YOUR STARTING POINT. BRING TAPE TO CHECK-IN! Time Limit: 60 sec. (If cd is used: it must be custom made with only one, 60 sec. routine audio on cd.)

SCHEDULE: FRIDAY NIGHT CHECK-IN/ WEIGH-IN/ PREJUDGING MEETING, July 11th, 6-8 p.m. at HOST HOTEL--Holiday Inn Mountain View, 2020 Menaul Blvd., N.E., 505-884-2511.    Saturday Prejudging at Hiland Theater meet at 8:30 a.m. to pick up your number and drop off music, Prejudging begins at 9:30 a.m. Evening check-in at 5 p.m., evening show begins at 6p.m.

NEW -BACKSTAGE PASS FOR TRAINERS:  Due to liabiltiy and limited backstage space, a limited number of  BACKSTAGE TRAINER PASSES will be sold.  Only one, (1), Backstage Trainer Pass will be allowed per competitor.  If trainer purchases pass by June 22nd, trainers name will appear in the show program.   Cost:  $40(includes Prejudging ticket but no evening ticket), $50(includes Prejudging ticket + General Admission ticket for evening), $65(includes Prejudging ticket + VIP CLOSE evening ticket).

WOMEN'S FITNESS & FIGURE* CHAMPIONSHIPS

GENERAL CONTEST INFORMATION
Each contestant must be a current memberof the NPC, (2003 NPC cards will be available for $60)
Entry Fee: $40 if postmarked by June 26, 2003. $50 for entries postmarked after June 26, 2003. (Complete the entry form BELOW.)
Contestants must wear high heels in the swimsuit rounds and tennis/athletic shoes in the fitness round. Jewelry may be worn in the swimsuit rounds.
Thong swimsuits will not be allowed. Tights must be worn under thong in fitness round.
Exhibition of poor sportsmanship willbe grounds for automatic disqualification.
Due to limited backstage area and for the competitors safety, only one assistant or trainer will be permitted backstage, and they must purchase a SPECIAL BACKSTAGE PASS---SEE DETAILS AND PRICING ABOVE. 
Fitness contestants must be able to carry theirown props to and from the stage.
Contestant check-in FRIDAY NIGHT AT HOST HOTEL, 6-8 p.m.  Saturday meeting at Hiland Theater at 8:30am to pick up number and drop off music, Prejudging begins at 9:30am.

PUBLICITY AND AWARDS:
The top 2 winners in the FITNESS class, and the top 2 winners in each of the three height classses for FIGURE , (5'3" and under, over 5'3" - 5'5" and over 5'5"), will be nationally qualified,  and will receive Neils AndersonFitness/Figure Sculptures. No money prizes may be given at the amateur level. All of the national events will be featured on FOXSports. The top 6 FITNESS contestants, ( 2 in each of the 3 height classes),  at the USA and Nationals and the classwinners at the Team Universe will be eligible to turn professional in the IFBB. The winner of Nationals will be invited to compete at the FitnessMs. Olympia Contest.The National FIGURE Championships will be in NY along with the NPC TEAM UNIVERSE.


JUDGING PROCEDURES:

ROUND 1/SWIMSUIT
The contestants will be brought out in 1 or 2 lines for the quarter turns. (Do not twist-look straight ahead.) The judges will be scoring the physique by assessing overall muscle tone with shapely lines, overall firmness and a small degree of muscularity with separation, no visible striations and no excessive leanness along with a full general assessment including healthy appearance, face, makeup and skin tone.


ROUND 2/ FITNESS
Each athlete will perform a maximum 2 minute routine. Judges will be looking for strength and flexibility moves, style, personality and overall presentation and showmanship. Strength and flexibility moves will be judged on the number, degree of difficulty and the creativity in performing the moves. Contestants should give special attention to their apparel since it too will be judged. Routines may include aerobics,dance gymnastics or other demonstrations of athletic talent and strength--there are no required moves except at the national events, but are strongly recommended. ( See the national show required moves on the New Rules page .) Props are allowed but must be approved by promoter in advance.


ROUND 3/FINAL ASSESSMENT

The Athlete will be brought back out in their original line in a 1-PIECE SWIMSUIT . At this time judges may ask for certain contestants to be placed next to other contestants.Then the quarter turns will be directed so the judges can make any finalcomparisons they wish.

SCORING
Each round is judged separately, andscores are turned in after each round.

EVENING PERFORMANCE
All contestants will be introducedat the evening event in their swimsuits. All athletes will perform theirfitness routine at the evening finals.
