ELIGIBILITY/BODYBUILDERS: Open to any NPC athlete. (2012 NPC cards will be available for $100.) Teenage competitors: minimum age of 16 and must not have exceeded 19 years of age the day of the contest. Masters competitors must have reached the age of 35/40/45/50 the day of the contest.Proof of age required. Novice competitors are eligible only if they have never placed 1st-3rd in an open class or 1st place Novice Division in an NPC sanctioned national qualifier event.  Contestants may enter more than one division, however, athletes will only pose once at the evening competition.

AWARDS FOR BODYBUILDING/PHYSIQUE: 
Men's Novice and Open Bodybuilding, Men's Masters Bodybuilding 35-40, 40-45, 45-50 & 50+, Men's Physique 35-42, 42+, Men's Teenage Physique, Women's Open Physique, Women's Physique Masters 40+: 1st -5th one class each.
Men's Open Physique 4 Height Classes:
1st - 5th place receive Niels Andersen sculpture awards.

Team Trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring team. ($35 fee per team is required.)
Overall Men's and Women's Champions receive Overall Award.

RULES/BODYBUILDERS: This contest is NPC sanctioned and will run in accordance with the most recent NPC rules and procedures. All bodybuilding competitors will be weighed in wearing their posing suit FRIDAY NIGHT--NO SATURDAY WEIGH-IN. NO VULGARITY ALLOWED IN POSING MUSIC. BACKSTAGE: 
NEW!  Due to limited backstage area and for the competitors safety, only a limited number of assistants/ trainers will be permitted backstage and they must be an NPC member due to insurance requirements(Purchase NPC Card here.) Trainer may purchase  a Backstage Trainer Pass for $75.  The $75 Backstage Trainer Pass includes a Prejudging ticket, but Evening Finals ticket must be purchased separately. Only 1 Trainer per competitor. (Competitors do not need a ticket).
Please be advised: A Backstage Trainer Pass does not allow trainers to impede flow of the event backstage.  Trainers must cooperate with event expeditors or Backstage Trainer Pass will be revoked.

MUSIC/BODYBUILDERS & WOMEN'S PHYSIQUE: Contestants will use their own music WITH NO VULGARITY* for the finals, burned onto a CD, (CD-R ONLY!), WITH 60 SEC. POSING SONG CUSTOM BURNED. BRING CD TO SATURDAY 7:30 a.m. CHECK-IN. Time Limit: 60sec. (Since ALL bodybuilding competitors are allowed to do their posing routine at the night show, each competitor is limited to 60 sec.)

WOMEN'S PHYSIQUE CONTEST DETAILS:
Women's Physique Division has been created to give a platform for women who enjoy weight training, competing and contest preparation.  Competitors should display a toned, athletic physique showcasing femininity, muscle tone and beauty/flow of physique.

JUDGING CRITERIA-

    *   
MUSCULARITY & BODY CONDITION: Judges will be looking for contestants who display Symmetry, Shape, Proportion, Muscle Tone, Poise and Beauty Flow. Physique should display all of the above criteria without compromising Femininity, Beauty/Flow of Physique.  Physique assessment and comparisons will take place during Prejudging.
         Women's Physique competitors should have the overall aesthetics and look that is found in figure with a little more overall muscularity.  While all types of physiques will be considered when it comes to height, weight, structure, etc., excessive muscularity will be scored down accordingly.

COMPETITION JUDGING-

    *   PREJUDGING: Quarter turns and mandatory posing comparisons/callouts. 
        Mandatory Poses will be performed in good taste with open hand style and    
        include the following poses:
             - Front double biceps/open hands (no flat footed full front pose-some sort of
                  front twisting pose)

             - Back Double biceps/open hands
             - Side tricep with leg extended
             - Side chest with arms extended
             - Front ab/thigh

    *   FINALS:  All competitors will perform their individual posing routine to music.
             In Colorado, individual routines are 60 seconds in length.
Contestants will               use their own music WITH NO VULGARITY for the finals, prerecorded on a              quality CD--ONLY A CD-R WITH 60 SEC. POSING SONG CUSTOM                      BURNED ONLY and CUED TO STARTING POINT. Contestant must bring
             CD to
    *   RULES: Suits worn by WP competitors for Prejudging must be a 2 piece. Suits             do not have to be solid in color. The bottom of the suit must be v-shaped.                 No thongs are permitted. Competitors can compete in an off eh rack suit. All             suits must be in good taste.
           -No Props will be allowed.
           -No heels may be worn at any time during the competition/judging of WP.
           -MUSIC:

CROSSOVERS, NATIONAL SHOWS, IFBB PRO CARDS-

    *   CROSSOVERS: Crossovers are allowed at NPC shows in CO this year, but not at the NPC national level.

    *   NPC NATIONAL LEVEL CONTESTS:  For 2012, the top three (3) in a national qualifying Women’s Physique contest will be qualified for the NPC USA and NPC National Championships.  The top five (5) will qualify for all other national contests including the NPC Junior USA, NPC Junior National, NPC Team Universe and IFBB North American Championships. At a non-qualifying contest, no athletes are qualified for a national contest.

MEN'S PHYSIQUE CONTEST DETAILS:
JUDGING CRITERIA-

    *   MUSCULARITY & BODY CONDITION: Judges will be looking for fit     contestants who display proper shape and symmetry combined with muscularity and overall condition. This is not a bodybuilding contest so extreme muscularity should be marked down.

    *   STAGE PRESENCE & PERSONALITY:  Contestants will be asked to walk in board shorts (shorts must be just above the knee in length and can be one inch below the belly button, no spandex and no logos are permitted on the board shorts however a manufacturer’s logo such as Nike symbol or Billabongs are acceptable.) Competitors will enter the stage without a shirt and barefoot. No lewd acts allowed for example the moon pose. Judges are looking for the contestant with the best stage presence and poise who can successfully convey his personality to the audience.

COMPETITION JUDGING-

     PRESENTATION: Competitors will walk to the center of the stage alone and perform quarter (1/4) turns with optional pose of hand on hip or hand in pocket, face the judges as directed then proceed to the side of the stage.

    *   COMPARISION ROUND: The competitors will be brought back out in a group and directed to do quarter turns. The Judges will have the opportunity to compare competitors against each other in quarter turns.

CROSSOVERS, NATIONAL SHOWS, IFBB PRO CARDS-

    *   CROSSOVERS: Crossovers are allowed at NPC shows in CO this year, but not at the NPC national level.

    *   NPC NATIONAL LEVEL CONTESTS:  Competitors that place in the top five (5) in each Open class at national qualifying contests will have a one year qualification for national level events to Dec. 31st of that year.

    *   QUALIFYING FOR IFBB PRO STATUS: JUNIOR USA CHAMPIONSHIPS – Top 2 placers in the overall comparison, JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – Top 4 placers in the overall comparison, TEAM UNIVERSE  – Height class winners, USA CHAMPIONSHIPS – Height class winners, IFBB NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – Top 2 placers in the overall comparison, NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – Height class winners earn IFBB Pro Cards.

WOMEN'S FITNESS/FIGURE/BIKINI CHAMPIONSHIPS

GENERAL CONTEST INFORMATION

    1.  
Each contestant must be a current member of the NPC, (2012 NPC cards
     will be available for $100).  Entry Fee: $75 if postmarked by April 1, 2012,
     $115 for entries postmarked after April 1, 2012. (Complete entry form BELOW.)

    2.    Figure Over 35/40/45 contestants must have reached the age of 35/40/45 by     the day of the contest. Proof of age required.

    3.    Contestants must wear high heels in the swimsuit rounds and tennis/athletic     shoes in the fitness round.

    4.    Jewelry may be worn in the swimsuit rounds.

    5.    Thong swimsuits will not be allowed. Tights must be worn under thong in            fitness round.

    6.    Exhibition of poor sportsmanship willbe grounds for automatic disqualification.

    10.   All contestants must bring all suits to be worn in competition to the                 Contestant Check-In for suit inspection by a show official. BIKINI                             competitors must check in WEARING BIKINI SUIT to be in compliance with the     rule, "The bottom should be in good taste covering about 50% of the gluteal area."     If Bikini athlete has any questions they should bring a second suit with a more         modest bottom.

FITNESS & FIGURE JUDGING PROCEDURES:

ROUND 1/SWIMSUIT
The contestants will be brought out in 1 or 2 lines for the quarter turns in a 2-PIECE SWIMSUIT. (Do not twist-look straight ahead.)The judges will be scoring the physique by assessing overall muscle tone with shapely lines, overall firmness and a small degree of muscularity with separation, no visible striations and no excessive leanness along with a full general assessment including healthy appearance, face, makeup and skin tone.

ROUND 2/ FITNESS
Each FITNESS athlete will perform a maximum 2 minute routine. Judges will be looking for strength and flexibility moves, style, personality and overall presentation and showmanship. Strength and flexibility moves will be judged on the number, degree of difficulty and the creativity in performing the moves. Contestants should give special attention to their apparel since it too will be judged. Routines may include aerobics,dance gymnastics or other demonstrations of athletic talent and strength--there are no required moves except at the national events, but are strongly recommended. Props are allowed but must be approved by promoter in advance.

SCORING
Each round is judged separately, and scores are turned in after each round.

EVENING PERFORMANCE
All contestants will be introduced at the evening event in their swimsuits. All athletes will perform theirfitness routine at the evening finals.

*NOTE:  FIGURE CHAMPIONSHIPS (OPEN, NOVICE & AGE GROUP FIGURE)----Rules are the same as Women's Fitness minus "ROUND 2/FITNESS"

SPECIFIC INFORMATION ABOUT BIKINI DIVISION:

  • NO crossover into Bodybuilding, Fitness or Figure.
  • Competitors will compete in a two-piece suit. The bottom of the suit must be v-shaped. No thongs are permitted. Competitors can compete in an off-the-rack suit. All swimsuits must be in good taste. Swimsuit will be inspected at Athlete Check-In. BIKINI competitors must check in WEARING BIKINI SUIT to be in compliance with the new rule, "The bottom should be in good taste covering about 50% of the gluteal area."  If Bikini athlete has any questions they should bring a second suit with a more modest bottom.
  • Competitors must wear high heels.
  • Competitors may wear jewelry.
BIKINI JUDGING PROCEDURES:

Presentation

  • Competitors will walk onstage alone and perform their Model Walk (personal preference) NEW! NOTE: Use good taste: No  sexual overtones/gestures.
    • The Model Walk consists of the following:                                           Walk to the center of the stage, stop and do a front stance then a full turn and do a rear stance, (NEW!-Rear stance pose to be done in good taste-keep feet no more than 24 inches apart and no bending forward), then turn to the front again in front of the judges and then proceed to the side of the stage.

Comparison Round, Two-Piece Swimsuit

  • Competitors will be judged wearing a two-piece swimsuit and heels.
  • The competitors will be brought out in a group and directed to do a full front and rear stance. (NEW!-Rear stance pose to be done in good taste-keep feet no more than 24 inches apart and no bending forward.)
  • Judges will have the opportunity to compare competitors against each other in half turns. (No side judging permitted, front and back only.)
  • Judges will be scoring competitors on the following items:
    • Balance and Shape
    • Overall physical appearance including complexion, skin tone, poise and overall presentation.
